SD-10
Virginia Republicans will be voting Saturday to decide nominees in multiple legislative districts.
Republicans in Senate District 10 will be choosing their nominee and presumptive general election winner with a convention.
SD-10 is a strong Republican district according to analysis from VPAP.
The May 6 convention will be taking place at Buckingham High School. Del. John McGuire, Louisa Supervisor Duane Adams, Jack Dyer, and Sandy Brindley will all be on the ballot in the first round.
In order to earn the nomination, the winner will need to receive 50% plus one vote from convention participants. If no candidate reaches that threshold in round one, the lowest-scoring candidate is dropped off and delegates vote again. The process is repeated if no candidate meets the threshold in round two.
The final pairing will likely be Adams and McGuire once the first two rounds are complete. Brindley is expected to be the first candidate eliminated, followed by Dyer. Where the votes from those two candidates go will determine the nominee.
Virginia Scope will provide results when they are available.
