The next General Assembly elections are over a year away but candidates are already making moves to try and get a leg up on potential primary opponents.
Republicans are hoping to take the majority in the state Senate and keep the majority in the House of Delegates to enact Governor Glenn Youngkin’s full agenda. Senate Democrats with their 21-19 majority are the only thing stopping Youngkin and Republicans from achieving every goal and 2021 campaign promise. Below is an overview of SD-10.
SD-10
SD-10 has no incumbent due to redistricting. The district encompasses part of Hanover County, Powhatan County, part of Louisa County, Fluvanna County, Goochland County, Buckingham County, Appomattox County, Amelia County, part of Prince Edward County, and Cumberland County.
According to an analysis from VPAP, this district voted for Republican Glenn Youngkin by 36 points during 2021’s gubernatorial elections.
Four Republicans are seeking the nomination to run in the district:
