After being elected Commonwealth Attorney of Virginia’s largest locality, Steve Descano is facing a potential recall movement from Republicans who don’t agree with the policies that he implemented after taking office in January of last year.
Descano won in 2019 with 61% of the vote.
The New York Times reported that unknown donors are funding the movement.
“All things in politics have their time, and now is the moment that people who are for law enforcement have woken up,” said Sean D. Kennedy, a Republican operative who is the president of Virginians for Safe Communities. He called the recall efforts in Northern Virginia a “test case to launch nationwide.”
Other targets of the recall movement are Buta Biberaj of Loudoun County and Parisa Dehghani-Tafti of Arlington County.
