Governor Glenn Youngkin’s gas tax legislation has been posted
The governor’s legislation being sponsored by Sen. Steve Newman (R) and Del. Tara Durant (R) has been posted on LIS. The bill eliminates the statewide fuel tax from May 1 to July 31 and reduces the statewide motor fuel tax by 50 percent from August 1 to August 31 and by 25 percent from September 1 to September 30. The bill also has an emergency clause meaning it will go into affect immediately.
Bills with emergency clauses require a supermajority in each chamber.
