Youngkin, Lucas and Torian discuss budget with optimism
General Assembly leadership and Gov. Glenn Youngkin held a press conference Wednesday afternoon to announce that they are close to a deal and will hold a special session on May 13 to complete the budget process.
The House of Delegates unanimously voted Wednesday not to accept any of Youngkin’s 242 budget amendments.
They ruled them specific and separable, sending them back to committee to die.
“We feel that we are close on a budget, we've got work to do. Doesn't mean we've agreed, it just means we've got work to do,” Youngkin said in a conversation with reporters in the Capitol Wednesday. “And therefore, we will be calling a special session to come back to review an agreed budget on the 13th of May, for a vote on the 15th.”
