New leaders in both parties
It doesn’t matter which party takes control of the state Senate after November’s elections, the leadership will be new on both sides of the aisle.
Sens. Dick Saslaw (D) and Tommy Norment (R) are not seeking reelection this November. They have been the leaders of their parties in the Senate chamber for a combined time of more than 40 years – Norment since 2008 and Saslaw since 1996.
Now a battle in each party is secretly taking place to find their replacements.
There are obvious front runners.
