Congressional district profile: VA-10
Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D) is facing a tough reelection battle in 2022 as national headwinds counter Democratic House candidates for midterms.
According to analysis from the Virginia Public Access Project, Terry McAuliffe (D) won the tenth congressional district by 1.5 points in 2021. Senator Tim Kaine (D) won the district by 19 points in 2018, and Ralph Northam won by 10 points in 2017.
Localities in new district
Prince William County - 26%
Wexton first won election to this seat in 2018 after serving previously in the state Senate. She was reelected easily in 2020 but redistricting last year made her district more competitive for Republicans.
There are eleven Republicans trying to earn the nomination to face Wexton in November. The nominee will be chosen with a firehouse primary on May 21.
