5 pm update
The chair of the VA-04 Democratic committee, Alexsis Rodgers. and DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker provided a 5 pm update on the vote counting taking place at their headquarters in Richmond.
Rodgers says they are nearing the halfway mark of counting the 26,000 votes that were cast during yesterday’s primary.
They now have 11 individuals counting the votes compared to just five earlier in the day.
The votes are being counted by hand with no machine and each vote is viewed by one person and certified by a second.
They will keep counting tonight until they are done, according to Swecker.
