Tavorise Marks to file lawsuit against VA Democrats over primary election - NBC 12
By Emily Yinger
Democrats in Virginia’s 4th Congressional District will cast their ballots on Tuesday, Dec. 20 for who they want to see represent their party in February’s special election. Candidate Tavorise Marks confirmed to NBC12 that he planned to file a lawsuit against the Virginia Democratic Party.
According to The Richmond Times Dispatch, Marks accuses the party of suppressing voter turnout by holding their primary on a Tuesday and limiting the number of voting sites. Virginia Democrats wouldn’t comment on the lawsuit and said that they don’t discuss legal proceedings.
State commission on rules objects to Youngkin's K-12 transgender policy - Richmond Times-Dispatch
by Anna Bryson
A state commission that reviews administrative rules voted 5-4 along party lines Monday to object to the Youngkin administration’s proposed K-12 transgender policy. The panel’s vote is essentially a recommendation for deferral, and does not by itself stop the policies from going into effect.
The monthslong debate over the legality and ethics of the proposal continued Monday at a meeting of the Joint Commission for Administrative Rules, a legislative panel that reviews and can influence implementation of rulemaking and regulations like the Virginia Department of Education’s transgender policy proposal.
