Del. Todd Gilbert (R-Shenandoah) has been elected Speaker of the House of Delegates on a 97-0 vote. Gilbert was the leader for the Republicans during their last two years in the minority. After flipping seven seats in November of 2021, Republicans now hold a 52-48 majority in the House. (For context: Democrats voted in favor of Gilbert out of tradition, if they had the majority, they would have elected Filler-Corn to another term as Speaker.)
Additionally, Paul Nardo was elected as Clerk for the House of Delegates. ‘
