The Russet Perry campaign highlights why they believe she is the best candidate to face Segura in November
Russet Perry is leading her primary opponent in fundraising and her campaign highlighted why they believe she is the best candidate in an internal memo that Virginia Scope has obtained.
Perry is running against Zachary Cummings for the Democratic nomination in this toss-up district.
Juan Pablo Segura is the Republican nominee and he will be very well-funded heading into November. Sen. Jill Vogel (R) would have been the incumbent but she instead decided not to seek reelection this year.
Here are the reasons that Perry’s campaign manager believes she is the best candidate to face Segura:
● Russet holds a commanding 19-point lead over her primary opponent in the initial vote [Public Policy Polling, 4/13/23].
● As a first-time candidate, Russet leads her primary opponent in name ID and favorability, despite the fact that her opponent has held local office since 2021.
● When presented with both candidates’ bios, voters clearly resonated with Russet’s story more – choosing her background over her opponent’s by an overwhelming 44 points.
Friends of Russet Perry holds a significant fundraising advantage in the primary – and the campaign is prepared to fully utilize these resources to defeat Juan Pablo Segura. ● As primary election day approaches, Friends of Russet Perry has a 10-to-1 cash advantage over Russet’s primary opponent.
● Overall, Russet has raised over four times the amount her opponent has, and is entering the quarter with over $170,000 in the bank.
● Russet’s powerful profile and strong campaigning has earned her the support of a powerful slate of endorsers, including former Governor Ralph Northam, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton, as well as the Democrats who previously represented parts of this new district, Senators John Bell, Jennifer Boysko, and Barbara Favola.
Primary day is June 20.
