McAuliffe announces fundraising numbers
Terry McAuliffe raised $7.5 million in the latest filing period and has raised more than $20.4 million to date. He currently has over $9 million cash-on-hand.
More than 14,000 donors contributed to McAuliffe in just over one month his campaign says.
“While Glenn Youngkin is trying to buy the governor's office to enact his and Donald Trump's out-of-step agenda, I can promise Virginians: I am running for governor for you. Just as I did before, as governor I will get up every single day fighting to build a stronger Commonwealth. That means creating good paying jobs, making health care more affordable, and giving every Virginia child a world-class education," said Terry McAuliffe. "I am so proud to have tens of thousands of grassroots supporters who share our vision of keeping Virginia the best state for business and making sure our Commonwealth remains open and welcoming to all."

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin raised $3.4 million, with no personal loans, last month, according to his campaign.
The development comes as campaign finance reports are filed in Virginia on Thursday. Democratic nominee and former Gov. Terry McAuliffe's latest fundraising numbers have yet to be released, but his campaign brought in more than $2.8 million in April and May. McAuliffe was still competing in the Democratic gubernatorial primary at the time.
Del. Hala Ayala Raises Over $512K In Latest Filing Report With Over 75% of Contributions From Virginians
Democratic Candidate for Lieutenant Governor Delegate Hala Ayala raised more than $512,000 between May 28 and June 30, with over 75% of contributions coming from Virginians her campaign says.
“This campaign is by and for Virginians, and I am so grateful to have the support of a community who also believes in building on our progress for a stronger, more prosperous Virginia. Together, we will expand healthcare access, invest in our public schools and small businesses, and increase the affordability of quality child care. I will never forget the Virginian workers, families, and community members who I am fighting for, and I will continue to put them first as lieutenant governor.”
According to VPAP, Ayala’s GOP opponent Winsome Sears raised $232K in the latest filing period.
Republican attorney general nominee Jason Miyares announces latest fundraising numbers
The Miyares for Virginia campaign raised more than $484,000 during the June finance period.
“I’m humbled by the depth and breadth of support our campaign has received since securing the nomination this May. This fundraising number is a result of the energy surrounding our campaign,” said Jason Miyares. “As I’ve said before, this year is different. Virginians have had eight years of Mark Herring’s failed leadership and now with our highest murder rate this century, it’s clear that Virginia needs a new Top Cop. This November’s elections are competitive and Virginians are ready to replace a politician with a prosecutor whose focus is public safety, not politics."
According to VPAP, Miyares’ Democratic opponent Mark Herring raised $511K in the latest filing period.
McAuliffe tours VCU and VSU Thursday
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe toured two college campuses in Central Virginia Thursday morning.
At Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, McAuliffe toured the newly-built engineering building on Cary Street that his administration helped secure the funding to build.
Gregory Triplett, the senior associate dean for academic affairs at VCU’s engineering school credited McAuliffe for the new engineering building. “This happened because of him,” Triplett said Thursday. He then talked about how McAuliffe is able to tour the building while running for governor four years later. “You could not write this story,” Triplett said.
McAuliffe was able to test out some of the new equipment with students.
Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney and former Secretary of Education Anne Holton accompanied McAuliffe on the tour.
McAuliffe also stopped by a middle school STEM camp being held in Lockett Hall at Virginia State University in South Chesterfield. The students in the program grilled McAuliffe about what it is like to work in the governor’s office.
McAuliffe recently announced a new plan for higher education in Virginia. Read more about that here.
