Loudoun’s Commonwealth’s Attorney responds to Miyares
Loudoun County’s Commonwealth’s Attorney provided additional comment Tuesday on the Attorney General’s handling of a pedophile’s case in her locality. Virginia Scope reported multiple times yesterday on the situation involving a former Loudoun sheriff’s deputy’s arrest for soliciting a minor. Democrats accused Attorney General Jason Miyares of cutting a deal with the pedophile to drop one charge. Miyares’ office said there was no deal and that there was insufficient evidence to pursue the second charge.
Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney Buta Biberaj provided Virginia Scope with the following comment Tuesday:
“Since taking office as Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney, I have worked hard to protect our community by refocusing the office resources to protect victims. Our efforts have lead to real results and has had a positive impact on our community. I am proud of what we have accomplished. Unfortunately, the new AG is working hard to roll back our progress. Even as we make strides in the right direction, he is working to undermine prosecutors in Northern Virginia. It’s bizarre that Attorney General Miyares wants to take over local prosecutors’ work, but he now claims to not even know what a plea deal is. Attorney General Miyares should stop his hypocrisy and misleading the people of Virginia, and admit that his office signed a plea deal with the Deputy Sheriff. It is time that Attorney General Miyares stop being disingenuous and stop politically weaponizing the trauma of victims.”
