New polling info from CNU’s Wason Center
The Wason Center for Civic Leadership from Christopher Newport University released their annual State of the Commonwealth poll and asked respondents about their opinions on President Joe Biden, Gov. Glenn Youngkin's approval and support for a presidential run in Virginia, tax proposals, abortion, and marijuana.
The poll was conducted between Jan. 14 to Jan. 23. The sample size is 1,038 with a margin of error of 3.8%. The respondents were registered voters in Virginia.
On Youngkin: 50% of respondents approve of the job he has been doing as governor. 36% of respondents disapprove of the job he is doing.
45% of respondents believe Virginia is going in the right direction while 37% of respondents believe it is going in the wrong direction. Differences are: 67% of Republican voters say Virginia is heading in the right direction, compared to 23% of Democrats and 47% of Independents.
On Governor Youngkin’s job performance: 83% of Republicans approve, 74% of Democrats disapprove; 54% of Independents approve.
59% of respondents say that Youngkin should not run for president in 2024. 29% say he should
46% of Republicans say Youngkin should run for president and 38% say he shouldn’t.
58% of Independents say he should not run for president. don’t do it.
Democrats are 82% opposed to Youngkin running for president.
