Time to interview judges
The joint Courts committees from the General Assembly are interviewing candidates for the Supreme Court of Virginia today. Virginia is just one of two states where legislators choose Supreme Court justices. (South Carolina is the other one.)
Justice Bill Mims’ term ends on March 31 and former Chief Justice Donald Lemons retired from the court in February.
Supreme Court Justices are chosen by a majority vote in both chambers to serve 12-year terms.
