Kiggans talks about receiving endorsements from Tim Scott and Mike Pompeo
State Sen. Amanda Chase (R) sent out an email on Monday attacking her primary opponent, former state Sen. Glen Sturtevant. "Are you willing to take a chance that Glen will protect your gun rights?"
The fundraising totals are in for congressional candidates showing how much they raised and spent during the first quarter of 2022. This is a good gauge of momentum behind a candidate as they try to prove to their party that they are the best fit to take on the incumbents.
This morning I focused on VA-02 and VA-07, two highly competitive districts with Democratic incumbents,
VA-07
Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D) raised $1,052,627 for her reelection campaign
Spanberger has $3,888,218 cash on hand.
There are several Republicans seeking the nomination to run against Spanberger. Here are their first-quarter fundraising totals:
Yesli Vega raised $356,810.
Vega has $293,997 cash on hand.
State Sen. Bryce Reeves raised $268,925.
Reeves has $390,407 cash on hand.
Derrick Anderson raised $231,834.
Anderson has $371,281 cash on hand.
Crystal Vanuch raised $483,589. She also loaned her campaign $400,000.
She has $468,092 cash on hand with $400,000 in debt due to her loan.
VA-02
Rep. Elaine Luria (D) raised $1,130,865 during the first quarter of the year for her reelection bid.
Luria has $3,162,244 cash on hand.
Here are the totals from the Republicans who are seeking the nomination:
State Sen. Jen Kiggans raised $403,726.
Kiggans has $592,553 cash on hand.
Jarome Bell raised $86,021.
Bell has $9,433 cash on hand and $39,082 in outstanding debts.
Tommy Altman raised $43,269.
Altman has $19,337 cash on hand.

Chase attacks Sturtevant
Firing up some more 2023 drama, state Sen. Amanda Chase (R) sent out an email on Monday attacking her primary opponent, former state Sen. Glen Sturtevant. Chase, Sturtevant, and Tina Ramirez are facing off to try and earn the Republican nomination in the new Senate District 12.
