From first to third
Virginia lost its top ranking and moved down to third on the “Top States for Business” list created by CNBC. North Carolina took over the top spot after finishing second last year.
Governor Glenn Youngkin often said that Virginia’s economy is in the ditch during his gubernatorial campaign last year even after CNBC ranked the commonwealth as the number one state for business in the country. Democrats are pointing out that Youngkin took over six months ago and now the state has slipped two spots. A spokesperson for the House Republican caucus puts the blame on Democrats who had control of the government in Virginia in 2020 and 2021.
House Democratic Leader Don Scott called out Youngkin Wednesday morning.
