Freedom Virginia is endorsing Srinivasan and investing money in his campaign
Freedom Virginia is endorsing Del. Kannan Srinivasan, D-Loudoun, for the special election to replace Rep-elect Suhas Subramanyam in SD-32. Alongside their endorsement, Freedom Virginia said they are launching a five-figure program to reach key voters via text, phones, and digital ads ahead of the firehouse primary on Nov. 16 to choose the Democratic nominee.
“Delegate Srinivasan has a long record of working to ensure health care is more accessible and affordable in Virginia, including his support for the bipartisan Prescription Drug Affordability Board legislation,” said Rhena Hicks, Freedom Virginia co-Executive Director. “We look forward to continuing our work with him in the Senate, and we know that he will uphold Freedom Virginia’s commitment to lowering the cost of health care and bringing down the cost of living for families.”
Speaker of the House Don Scott, D-Portsmouth, and Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell announced their endorsement of Del. Kannan Srinivasan, D-Loudoun, on Thursday, adding to the list of legislators backing his run.
Former Loudoun Commonwealth Attorney Buta Biberaj sent out a text message Thursday announcing her campaign and linking to a video about it.
In addition to Srinivasan and Bibaraj, former Del. Ibraheem Samirah, D-Loudoun, Hurunnessa Fariad, Sreedhar NagiReddi and Puja Khanna have also filed to run for the Democratic nomination in this district.
Subramanyam has not declared his support for any candidate in the race at this time.
Democrats are hosting a firehouse primary on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to choose their nominee.
