EMILYs List is endorsing 16 women in races across Virginia during the 2023 cycle — several of them are in primary races against incumbents and other Democratic colleagues.
EMILYs list is dedicated to helping women get elected to office.
“During a serious crisis of abortion access, Virginia has been a haven of reproductive health care services not only for its residents but for millions of residents from surrounding states — and these 16 Democratic pro-choice champions are running to ensure that it stays that way and protect abortion in Virginia for years to come,” said EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler. “Each of these women have demonstrated a commitment and dedication not only to reproductive freedom but to the civil rights and wellbeing of all Virginians, and EMILYs List is proud to endorse them for election because we know they have what it takes to stand up to Republican extremism and fight for what’s right.”
Here are their endorsements in districts with Democratic primary races:
Patricia White-Boyd, VA: SD-04
The incumbent is Sen. David Suetterlein (R)
Lashrecse Aird, VA: SD-13
The incumbent is Sen. Joe Morrissey (D)
Elizabeth Guzman, VA: SD-29
The incumbent is Sen. Jeremy McPike (D)
Russet Perry, VA: SD-31
This is an open seat. Zach Cummings is also seeking the Democratic nomination.
Adele McClure, VA: HD-02
There is no incumbent in this district. Kevin Saucedo-Broach is also seeking the Democratic nomination.
Laura Jane Cohen, VA: HD-15
There is no incumbent in this district. Eric Schmidt and Henri Thompson are also seeking the Democratic nomination.
Katrina Callsen, VA: HD-54
There is no incumbent in this district. Bellamy Brown and Dave Norris are also seeking the Democratic nomination.
Amy Laufer, VA: HD-55
There is no incumbent in this district. Kellen Squire is also seeking the Democratic nomination.
Susanna Gibson, VA: HD-57
There is no incumbent in this district. Bob Shippee is also seeking the Democratic nomination.
Destiny LeVere Bolling, VA: HD-80
There is no incumbent in this district. John Dantzler is also seeking the Democratic nomination.
