VoteVets launches a new ad for McAuliffe
VoteVets announced Friday that they have launched a $180,000 broadcast and cable ad buy in the Norfolk market, supporting Terry McAuliffe, for the rest of the gubernatorial campaign.
Chase responds to Reeves‘ congressional announcement
State Senator Bryce Reeves (R-Spotsylvania) announced his congressional run in Virginia’s seventh congressional district Friday. One of his potential opponents for the Republican nomination, state Senator Amanda Chase (R-Chesterfield), posted a response to the announcement from Reeves early Friday morning.
“To refresh your memory, this is one of the three so called Republican Senators who supported my censure in the Senate for a bunch of ridiculous claims including my support of President Trump in his re-election efforts and attending a rally in January,” Chase posted to her personal Facebook page. “Now he wants to run for Congress? My supporters will NOT be supporting Senator Bryce Reeves. His chief of staff actually launched a political action committee against me. Keep your powder dry.”
Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (D-Henrico) is the current representative for this district after defeating Dave Brat in 2018. Her win margin grew in 2020, but a Democratic White House and the potential for a new map from redistricting that could make her district even more conservative than it already is, with Spanberger being the first Democrat to win the seat in several decades.
Taylor Keeney and Tina Ramirez have already announced their candidacy in the district, with the potential for state Del. John McGuire (R-Goochland) to also jump into the race.
Planned Parenthood launches six-figure ad campaign
Planned Parenthood Virginia PAC announced Friday that they are launching a final six-figure paid advertising push to get out the vote for reproductive rights candidates.
“Virginians deserve leaders who will stand up for our right to control our own bodies, lives, and futures. But we won’t get those leaders if people don’t show up at the polls,” said Jamie Lockhart, executive director, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia. “That’s why Planned Parenthood Virginia PAC will reach hundreds of thousands of Virginians before polls close on November 2 to ensure we send reproductive health champions Terry McAuliffe, Haya Ayala, Mark Herring, and more to office. Given the threats we’ve seen to abortion access in Virginia and across the country, there’s too much at stake for anyone to sit this election out.”
