What happened during the special session today
The House of Delegates met Friday and voted unanimously to restore the VMSDEP benefits.
The Senate is expected to take up the House bill on Monday.
Sen. Louise Lucas, D-Portsmouth, has introduced legislation that would delay the implementation of the recently passed restrictions on the VMSDEP program while a legislative commission conducts a study.

The special legislative work group to study VMSDEP met Friday to discuss the recent changes to the program and determine the next steps. While members were hearing public comments on the issue, one speaker, who identified himself as Tom Coffin, called Sen. Louise Lucas, D-Portmouth, a derogatory term.
