Attorney General Miyares responds to request from Circuit Court over case trying to force elections again this year
There remains a legal tangle of webs revolving around Virginia’s new maps and when the legislators might have to run again. The original cause of the drama is the fact that the redistricting process took too long and the House of Delegates ran under the old districts last November.
Paul Goldman filed a lawsuit to try and force them to run again this year under the new maps.
A US District Court judge allowed the case to take place against the members of the state board of elections and the elections commissioner with a three judge panel presiding. Former Attorney General Mark Herring appealed that decision to the US Circuit Appeals Court.
