A deeper look at finance reports
The public utility company Dominion Energy gives money to politicians on both sides of the aisle.
In recent years, there has been a movement primarily led by Clean Virginia, the group that donates large sums of money to (mostly) Democrats who pledge not to accept campaign donations from Dominion.
But despite that effort, Dominion still has relationships with many influential legislators in the Democratic and Republican parties.
For some politicians, Dominion is largely bankrolling their campaigns.
In total, Dominion Energy gave $945,000 to Democrats and $564,500 to Republicans during the first six months of 2024.
